NorthPort beats NLEX 113-108 to end 8-game losing streak

NorthPort upset league-leading NLEX with a 113-108 victory in the PBA Season 49 Philippine Cup on Wednesday at Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

The Batang Pier ended their eight-game losing streak and handed NLEX its third loss in 11 games, securing NorthPort's second win in the all-Filipino conference.

Fran Yu delivered a crucial layup with 12 seconds left to give NorthPort a 112-108 lead, while Cade Flores contributed 26 points and 15 rebounds.

Despite Robert Herndon's effort of 21 points for NLEX, confusion in the final moments led to missed opportunities and ultimately secured NorthPort's victory.

NorthPort erupted with 40 points in the third period, limiting NLEX to just 18, taking an 86-76 lead by the end of the quarter.

Key contributors from NorthPort included Joshua Munzon with 12 assists, Calvin Abueva scoring 19 points and grabbing eight rebounds, while Fran Yu added 21 points including five three-pointers.
