NGCP suspends maintenance until May 16 for elections

The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) has suspended all maintenance activities until Monday, May 16, to ensure uninterrupted power supply during the midterm elections on May 12.

In a statement, NGCP said that construction and non-critical maintenance near substations and transmission lines are temporarily halted from May 5 to May 16 as part of contingency plans set by the Commission on Elections (Comelec).

Since April, all transmission lines have been cleared of vegetation and obstructions, except for one line in South Luzon due to ongoing negotiations with a landowner.

NGCP's Overall Command Center will operate 24/7 from May 11 until May 14, while critical units like System Operations and Operations and Maintenance remain fully staffed.

Line crews and technical personnel are strategically positioned in substations to quickly respond to any issues, ensuring the reliability of the transmission network during this period.
