Romero sisters launch Capital1 Solar Strikers for PFF Women's League

Sports enthusiasts Milka and Mandy Romero have launched their new football team, the Capital1 Solar Strikers, which will compete in the PFF Women's League.

Milka, a former Ateneo standout and national team member, expressed her excitement about giving back to the football community by empowering women in sports at Wednesday’s press launch in Bonifacio Global City.

Philippine Football Federation president John Gutierrez welcomed the Romero sisters' involvement as it helps develop the sport.

The Solar Strikers will be coached by Let Dimzon, who previously led Kaya FC to a league title and Far Eastern University to cup championships. The team includes collegiate and foreign players such as 2021 GSC Defensive Player of the Year Emma Young and Arianna del Moral from Minnesota Aurora FC.

The Romero sisters formed the Strikers on the first anniversary of their volleyball club, the Capital1 Solar Spikers in the Premier Volleyball League, aiming to provide opportunities for Filipina athletes and push women's sports forward.

Mandy Romero emphasized that the team is committed to boosting the women's football scene in the Philippines and will compete with established rivals like Kaya Iloilo and Stallion Laguna when they enter the league next season.
