Negrense caregiver killed in Israel missile attack returns home

The remains of Negrense caregiver Leah Mosquera arrived in Bacolod early Thursday morning, more than a week after she died in Israel due to injuries from an Iranian missile attack.

Local officials and representatives from the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) and the Department of Migrant Workers were present at Bacolod Silay Airport to receive Leah’s remains as her family members and friends joined Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson for an emotional welcome.

May Joy Mosquera, Leah's sister who also works as a caregiver in Israel, accompanied the return of her deceased sibling and shared details about their last meeting before the missile attack.

Leah will be brought back to her hometown San Enrique for the wake and funeral. Mayor Jilson Tubillara said it may take a day or two before the wake can commence due to preparations being made.

The provincial government plans to provide P190,000 in assistance to Leah’s family, while OWWA-6 director James Mendiola stated that their office and DMW were instructed by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to extend support.
