NDRRMC raises alert status to red for TD Crising

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) raised its alert status to red for Tropical Depression 'Crising' on Thursday.

Selected duty personnel from various government agencies, including the AFP, BFP, PCG, PNP, DOST-PAGASA, DILG, DSWD, DA, DPWH, DepEd, and DOH, are required to render duty at the NDRRMOC starting at 12 noon.

Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Operation Centers are tasked with monitoring incidents and coordinating with concerned agencies efficiently.

A virtual Emergency Operations Center must be activated to facilitate coordination.

According to Pagasa, Crising was last located 520 kilometers east-northeast of Juban, Sorsogon or 470 kilometers east-northeast of Virac, Catanduanes and is forecasted to move north-northwestward by Friday evening, potentially intensifying into a severe tropical storm by then.

The Office of the Civil Defense (OCD) urged local government units and communities to activate response plans, preposition relief items, monitor updates, and follow evacuation orders if necessary.

Several local government units have already suspended classes in all levels for the day while two flights have so far been cancelled due to the inclement weather brought by Crising.
