NCRPO reports 60% drop in index crimes during Holy Week

The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) reported a 60.18 percent reduction in index crimes during Holy Week from April 14 to 20, 2025, compared to the same period last year.

Crime cases dropped from 113 incidents in 2024 to just 45 this year, with significant decreases observed in murder (from eight cases down to one), rape (from 18 to four), physical injuries (from 12 to four), and theft (from 55 to 24).

Carnapping also saw a substantial decline from four incidents last year to just one case.

NCRPO's Case Solution Efficiency increased to 88.89 percent from last year’s 73.45 percent, indicating improved investigative capabilities.

Maj. Gen. Anthony Aberin, NCRPO chief, emphasized that the police office is committed to maintaining peace and security with competence and integrity.
