DOH eyes triage system for COVID-19 cases this week

The Duterte government is implementing a 'triage system' across local government units to manage the flow of patients needing health care due to the increase in coronavirus cases.

Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said the DOH aims to have the triage system operational by the end of the week, serving as a midway point where local health officials will assess whether patients need hospital care or can be placed in quarantine facilities.

The system seeks to avoid further congesting hospitals and is being piloted first in the National Capital Region's local government units.
