NBI rescues trafficking victim from illegal gambling site

Two Chinese nationals were arrested and a woman was rescued from an illegal online gambling operation in Paranaque City by agents of the NBI Cybercrime Division.

The victims confirmed that they were held against their will, forced to participate in illegal gambling activities, and subjected to threats and intimidation.

Evidence gathered during the rescue operation indicates that the suspects were involved in human trafficking, including recruitment, harboring, and coercion of the victim.

The rescued woman was presented for inquest before the Paranaque City Prosecutor's Office for violations under Republic Act No. 11862, the Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Law of 2022.

According to a complaint made by the victim’s friend, she was subjected to a quota system based on deposits and faced threats to her safety if she sought help from authorities.
