NBI investigates links between POGOs and foreign espionage

The NBI is investigating potential links between Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs) and foreign espionage activities.

During Monday's House Quadcomm hearings, NBI spokesperson Ferdinand Lavin stated that they are completing data to establish a link between POGO operations and espionage activities.

Lavin also mentioned that cases have been filed against numerous foreign nationals involved in various espionage activities.

Following the ban on online gambling last November 2024, POGOs shifted to financial scamming and espionage, according to Lavin.

The NBI is conducting digital forensic examinations of seized gadgets related to both financial scams and espionage activities.

Lavin emphasized that the NBI is coordinating with other government agencies such as BI, PNP, and PAOCC for their probe.
