Navotas closes city hall, Centennial Park over COVID spike

Navotas City Mayor Toby Tiangco has closed the city hall and Centennial Park due to a spike in COVID-19 cases.

The daily case rate rose from 33 on February 6 to 238 on February 25, with more than 2,000 city hall employees undergoing mandatory testing.

On Thursday, an additional 46 staff members tested positive for the virus, bringing the total number of infected city hall workers to 70 since the lockdown began on February 23.

Tiangco attributed the spread to residents looking for work and emphasized that community transmission is occurring.
