NAPOLCOM files complaint against police major for alleged sexual assault at PNPA

The National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) filed an administrative complaint against a police officer on Friday for allegedly sexually assaulting a cadet at the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA).

IMES, NAPOLCOM's Inspection Monitoring and Investigation Service, is formally charging the police major with grave misconduct and conduct unbecoming of a police officer.

According to a police report, the incident occurred during a drinking session on July 31 when the suspect allegedly took advantage of his position and forcibly performed oral sex on the cadet against his will.

The PNPA has appealed for the protection of the victim's privacy as they continue to receive psychological support.

In response to this incident, the Academy is taking steps to strengthen its internal mechanisms and tighten vetting procedures for all personnel assigned to PNPA.
