Napolcom dismisses vlogger-cop Fontillas for criticizing PNP officials

The National Police Commission (Napolcom) dismissed vlogger-cop Francis Steve Fontillas on Thursday for criticizing top officials of the Philippine National Police (PNP) over their alleged role in former President Rodrigo Duterte's arrest.

Fontillas was found guilty of grave misconduct, unbecoming behavior as a police officer, and disloyalty to the government in unanimous votes by Napolcom commissioners who also barred him from reentering public service.

During his viral tirades, Fontillas criticized not only top PNP officials but also the ICC and Interpol for Duterte's arrest on March 11.

Despite officially resigning from the Philippine National Police effective April 10, 2025, Napolcom retained jurisdiction over him due to ongoing administrative and criminal cases filed against him.

Napolcom vice chairperson Rafael Vicente Calinisan emphasized that Fontillas could not escape liability through resignation since he was already formally charged before his resignation, thus making him liable as required by law.
