MRT-7 62% complete, set for Dec 2022 ops

The Metro Rail Transit Line 7 (MRT-7) is 62% complete and on track to start operations by December 2022.

SMC unveiled the first 18 out of 108 train cars manufactured by Hyundai Rotem in South Korea during a ceremony led by President Duterte and Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade.

Once completed, MRT-7 will reduce travel time from North Avenue, Quezon City to San Jose del Monte, Bulacan to just 35 minutes from the current two to three hours.

Test runs for MRT-7 are scheduled to begin in April next year before passenger operations commence in December.

The railway line will have 14 stations and will link up with MRT-3 and LRT-1, providing greater access and seamless travel.
