MRCW welcomes women-led Marawi Compensation Board

Marawi Reconstruction and Conflict Watch (MRCW) welcomed the appointment of members to the Marawi Compensation Board (MCB), noting its composition includes five women who will bring integrity to the compensation process.

The MCB is tasked with handling compensation claims for civilian lives lost and properties destroyed during the 2017 Marawi siege.

MRCW emphasized the need for an expedited crafting and implementation of a compensation law to ensure transparent use of PHP1 billion allocated for 2023.

Meanwhile, Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) are slowly being transferred to shelters in Marawi City, with the last batch from Bakwit Village in Lanao del Norte moving into Dulay Transitory Shelter.
