MPTC data breach may have exposed up to 1 million Easytrip user records

The Metro Pacific Tollways Corp. (MPTC) confirmed on Saturday that a limited data breach may have compromised Easytrip user accounts used across several major tollways.

While some user accounts may have been accessed or possibly compromised, MPTC's information security team has contained the affected system to prevent further damage.

The company assured users that their Easytrip toll wallet balances remain intact and secure, and will reach out directly to any account holders who were impacted by the breach.

MPTC operates on major tollways including NLEX, SCTEX, CAVITEX, and Cavite-Laguna Expressway.

On Saturday, cybersecurity watchdog Deep Web Konek reported that almost one million Easytrip records, including 247,324 card numbers (both used and unused) and an internal telephone directory with 3,000 entries, had been compromised.
