Mongolia's FM begins historic visit to PH, issues first bilateral statement since 1984

Mongolian Foreign Minister Battsetseg Batmunkh commenced her historic visit to the Philippines on Monday, marking the first such trip by a Mongolian foreign minister since 1984.

During her stay, she met with Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique Manalo and President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., as well as Senate President Francis Escudero, to discuss strategic issues and deepen diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The visit led to the issuance of the first bilateral statement between the Philippines and Mongolia since 2000, reaffirming their commitment to peaceful coexistence and mutually beneficial cooperation.

Both nations agreed to advance cooperation in trade and investment, food security, English language training, and regional security, while also expressing satisfaction with progress on a memorandum of understanding on agricultural cooperation.

The Philippines launched a pilot program for Mongolian civil servants and rural officials to study English in the country, organized by the Technical Cooperation Council of the Philippines and Technical Education and Skills Development Authority.
