MMDA installs CCTVs near schools to re-implement NCAP

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) is installing CCTV cameras near private schools and universities in Metro Manila to re-implement the No Contact Apprehension Policy (NCAP).

During a meeting with school representatives from Greenhills, San Juan, Ortigas, and Katipunan Avenue on Thursday, MMDA chair Romando Artes highlighted critical chokepoints around La Salle Greenhills and Saint Pedro Poveda College.

The MMDA plans to remove traffic enforcers from these areas to avert incidents of bribery and install CCTV cameras along EDSA, Ortigas, and Katipunan avenues near several schools including Ateneo de Manila University.

Representatives from La Salle Greenhills and other private schools expressed support for the initiative and emphasized the need for consistent enforcement to ensure effective traffic regulation.

The MMDA has begun installing CCTV cameras in key locations and plans to complete installations within a week or two, with separate meetings scheduled next week to address specific concerns and guidelines.
