NCR may go back to GCQ if COVID-19 cases continue to drop

Metro Manila Council chair Edwin Olivarez expects the National Capital Region (NCR) will be placed under general community quarantine (GCQ) if the decreasing trend in COVID-19 cases continues.

Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana, who chairs the National Task Force on COVID-19, expressed confidence that NCR could shift to GCQ after August 18 due to a gradual decline in new cases.

Lorenzana noted that while Monday saw a spike of 6,958 new infections, previous days had seen fewer cases, indicating an overall downward trend.
