Met Gala celebrates 'Superfine: Tailoring Black Style'; LeBron James honorary chair

The Met Gala, held annually on the first Monday in May at New York City's Metropolitan Museum of Art, celebrated fashion and raised funds for the Costume Institute on Tuesday, May 6 (Manila time).

This year's theme, 'Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,' inspired by Monica L. Miller's book Slaves to Fashion, focuses on the influence and style of Black men throughout history.

Notable attendees included celebrities such as Rihanna, Anne Hathaway, Madonna, Zendaya, Jennie from BLACKPINK, Miley Cyrus, and many others who showcased their unique interpretations of the theme.

Leading this year's gala are honorary chair LeBron James and co-chairs Colman Domingo, A$AP Rocky, Lewis Hamilton, Pharrell Williams, and Anna Wintour.

Viewers can watch the official Met Gala livestream on Vogue's YouTube channel starting May 5, 2025, at 6 p.m. ET (May 6, 2025, at 6 a.m. Philippine time).

Among standout looks were Jennie in Chanel and Janelle Monae with a nod to Mexico's Cinco de Mayo, while Teyana Taylor and Diana Ross also made significant impressions.

The gala featured both celebrated and controversial interpretations of the theme, highlighting diverse perspectives on Black dandyism.
