Megawide wins P1.87B Cavite BRT contract

Megawide Construction Corporation has received a Notice of Award from the Cavite provincial government for the development, operation, and maintenance of a P1.87-billion bus transportation system, including a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) and point-to-point (P2P) route.

The BRT will connect Kawit, Imus, General Trias, Tanza, and Trece Martires, while the P2P system will link these cities to Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX).

Phase one of the project involves constructing Terminals 1 and 2 with 27 stations spanning 15 kilometers and an additional 26.5 kilometers of P2P alignment from PITX to Terminal 2, set to begin operations in 2026.

The second phase aims to construct Terminal 3 and add 20 more BRT stations, expanding the route by another 13.79 kilometers and adding 34.11 kilometers to the P2P alignment.

Megawide is known for developing projects such as Mactan-Cebu International Airport and PITX, which can accommodate up to 100,000 daily passengers.

The full completion of the Cavite BRT project is expected by 2036.

In April 2023, Megawide and Maplecrest Group, Inc. submitted an unsolicited proposal for the project that was approved in October 2023.
