MCIA resumes operations after runway repair

Flight delays and cancellations occurred at Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA) on Saturday due to scheduled runway repairs.

Aboitiz InfraCapital confirmed that multiple flights were affected, with Philippine Airlines canceling several domestic routes including Cebu-Bacolod and Cebu-Davao.

Budget carrier Cebu Pacific canceled at least 10 unspecified flights and advised passengers not to proceed to the airport until their flights are confirmed.

Airport General Manager Julius Neri stated that while repair work was ongoing, flight operations were shifted to the secondary runway and resumed at 6 p.m., with the main runway reopening at 7:30 p.m.

MCIA announced on Saturday night that immediate repairs had been successfully completed as of 7:30 p.m., and all airport activities are now back to normal.
