Alice Leal Guo's legal team files appeal for deadline extension with Comelec

Alice Leal Guo's legal team has filed an appeal with the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to extend the deadline for her filing of a counter-affidavit in response to a misrepresentation complaint.

Guo's legal counsel, Stephen David from the David Buenaventura Ang and Jamilla Law Offices, requested a ten-day extension until September 1 due to heavy workloads and prior commitments.

Comelec Chairman George Erwin Garcia confirmed receipt of the filing but stated that the Comelec Law Department will discuss and resolve the matter since the case is still in preliminary investigation stage.

The law firm emphasized that their request for an extension is not intended to delay proceedings but is necessary due to the complexities involved, including the need for comprehensive research and study.

Guo is at the center of a Senate investigation into raided Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGO) hub operations where seized documents showed her involvement in processing documents for its operations.
