CAAP allocates PHP205M for Bacolod-Silay Airport upgrade

Mayor Albee Benitez welcomed an additional PHP205 million allocation from the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) for upgrading the Bacolod-Silay Airport in Negros Occidental.

The new funding will support the expansion of the airport terminal and complements the ongoing PHP45 million rehabilitation project expected to be completed by December this year.

Mayor Benitez expressed gratitude for CAAP's approval, emphasizing his commitment to improving safety and efficiency at the airport.

CAAP Director General Raul Del Rosario confirmed in a letter dated April 24 that the allocation is part of an effort to address growing passenger demand and enhance facilities.

The PHP205 million includes PHP200 million for terminal improvements and PHP5 million for widening the access road to the fire station building, with TIEZA committing additional funding for runway maintenance.
