Marcos Jr. warns of incoming storms Nika, Ofel, Pepito

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. stated on Monday that the government is prepared for a series of tropical cyclones affecting parts of the country, with Severe Tropical Storm Nika (international name Toraji) currently impacting Isabela and Aurora.

Marcos Jr. noted that relief goods are prepositioned in these areas and initial evacuations have been conducted as part of ongoing efforts to ensure safety.

The president highlighted concerns about two more incoming storms named Ofel and Pepito, emphasizing the challenges in rehabilitating areas affected by consecutive storms due to potential further damage.

Marcos Jr. urged residents in storm-affected areas to follow local government instructions and assured that clearing operations are underway as soon as conditions permit.

He stressed the importance of basic necessities like electricity, food, water, and safety during recovery efforts, emphasizing the need for careful planning amid climate change.

The president reminded everyone to stay vigilant and listen to their local authorities for guidance on what actions to take during these storms.
