Marcos pushes for tourism overhaul, sports development

President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' R. Marcos Jr. emphasized the need to consolidate tourism services and promote native cuisines and sports during a PSAC meeting with representatives from the tourism industry.

Marcos cited Thailand's organized tourism sector, noting that travel there is seamless for tourists due to streamlined service providers handling hotel bookings, transportation, and tours.

The President instructed the Department of Tourism to focus on sports development and food tourism, highlighting their potential to boost the industry.

PSAC recommended strategies such as a 30-day visa-free entry for tourists, simplifying e-visa processes, and improving airport connectivity through public-private partnerships.

Business tycoons Sabin Aboitiz, Lance Gokongwei, Lucio Tan III, Rene Limcaoco, and Lourdes Josephine Gotianun-Yap were among those present at the meeting.
