Marcos hopes to double land titles for agrarian reform beneficiaries in 2024

President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. expressed hope on Wednesday that the number of land titles distributed to agrarian reform beneficiaries would double in 2024.

Marcos praised the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) for exceeding its target, distributing nearly 90,000 titles in 2023 compared to a goal of 50,000 during a distribution ceremony in Davao City.

The president noted that around 2,500 e-titles covering approximately 3,560 hectares would be distributed as part of the Support to Parcelization of Lands for Individual Titling (SPLIT) Project and emphasized the need for additional support like free farming equipment and infrastructure.

In July, Marcos signed the New Agrarian Emancipation Act, which will benefit over 610,000 agrarian reform beneficiaries by writing off P57.557 billion in loans and condoning amortizations.

The DAR aims to distribute Collective Certificates of Land Ownership Awards (CCLOAs) to more than 1.14 million ARBs across the country, covering around 1.368 million hectares of land.
