Marcos thanks Australia for 50 years of maritime security support

President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. expressed gratitude to Australia for its support in upholding maritime security and the rule of law during the 4th ASEAN-Australia Summit.

Marcos highlighted Australia's consistent backing through statements of support and capacity-building initiatives, marking 50 years of bilateral relations, emphasizing the need to maintain momentum in these ties.

The Philippine leader welcomed Australia's continued assistance through programs like the Australian Regional Trade for Development Facility, which supports regional Free Trade Agreements.

On environmental issues, Marcos encouraged Australia to promote its advanced technologies and build initiatives focused on reducing marine pollution, particularly plastic waste reduction and sustainable fisheries management.

Marcos also expressed optimism for future cooperation in biodiversity and climate action, urging continued support for ASEAN Centers of Excellence.
