Marcos supports regulating, taxing online gaming

The DOF's proposal is not opposed by the President as long as it is well-studied, with Palace Press Officer Claire Castro stating that the administration seeks a better policy on online gambling.

Efforts continue to intensify against illegal or unregistered online gambling operations, with PAGCOR and DICT collaborating to remove unauthorized gaming sites; over 7,000 such websites have been taken down so far.

The public is encouraged by the Palace to report individuals who are addicted to deny them access to any online gaming platforms, highlighting the government's ongoing efforts to protect Filipino families from gambling addiction.

Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri and others continue to push for stricter regulations or a total ban on online gambling to address addiction, social costs, and the proliferation of illegal operators.
