Marcos stresses sovereignty, commissions new naval assets

President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. emphasized that the Philippines will not tolerate any act of disrespect against its sovereignty during his speech at the 127th anniversary celebration of the Philippine Navy in Subic, Zambales.

Marcos praised the Navy for upholding maritime entitlements with dignity and courage amid regional disputes and reaffirmed the country's commitment to safeguarding its maritime zones according to international law.

The president highlighted the importance of joint defense efforts such as Balikatan exercises, Sama Sama, Rim of the Pacific, and Multilateral Naval Exercise Kakadu in fostering cooperation and maintaining peace within and across the region.

Two new naval assets were commissioned: BRP Miguel Malvar, a guided-missile frigate from South Korea, and BRP Albert Majini, the first locally assembled missile-capable patrol vessel honoring Ensign Albert Majini, enhancing the Navy's capacity to address current maritime threats.
