Marcos stresses digital vigilance at Manila Tech Summit

President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. emphasized the need for vigilance in the digital age during his speech at the Manila Tech Summit 2025 on Tuesday.

Marcos highlighted that while technology offers significant benefits, it also presents challenges such as sophisticated fraudulent schemes and job displacement risks.

He cited online gambling as a growing problem and mentioned initial measures like suspending in-app gambling access to protect citizens and maintain financial integrity.

The president noted the country's digital economy was valued at P2.25 trillion in 2024, equivalent to 8.5% of GDP, creating 11.3 million jobs.

Marcos stressed the importance of optimizing technology for better governance, aiming to enhance service delivery and transparency.

The summit gathered over 1,300 delegates from more than 300 organizations under the theme 'Forging a New Global Order: Risks and Opportunities Redefined.'
