Marcos rejects call for hair follicle drug test

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Friday rejected calls by former executive secretary Vic Rodriguez for him to undergo a hair follicle drug test.

Marcos questioned why such a test would be relevant, emphasizing that public trust is not related to the follicle test and noting that if Rodriguez truly believed Marcos was an illegal drug user, he wouldn't have worked for him.

Rodriguez previously challenged Marcos to take the same drug test last year during GMA Network's 'Tanong ng Bayan: The GMA Senatorial Face-Off 2025', citing Article 11, Section 1 of the Philippine Constitution and urging all elected and appointed government officials to undergo mandatory drug testing.

Former President Rodrigo Duterte also made strong allegations against Marcos last January, accusing him of being a 'drug addict then and now as president' and alleging that he was once on the watchlist of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.

Marcos, after Duterte's statement during the 2022 presidential campaign, released a medical certification proving there is no trace of drug abuse from his examination.
