Marcos prioritizes healthcare, nutrition for local governance seal

President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. instructed the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) to prioritize healthcare and nutrition as key indicators for the Seal of Good Local Governance.

In his speech at the 2024 National Nutrition Awarding Ceremony, Marcos emphasized that health criteria should include nutrition, vaccination access, and overall health services.

Marcos highlighted the importance of these measures in light of the lessons learned during the COVID-19 pandemic, stressing the need for a healthy population to ensure national productivity and prosperity.

The president noted that malnutrition remains a significant issue in the Philippines, affecting cognitive development and education outcomes for children.

He urged Filipinos to be mindful of their dietary habits and environmental factors as part of efforts to address nutritional challenges across various life stages.
