Marcos orders Tangos-Tanza gate repairs by Aug 8

Public Works Secretary Manuel Bonoan announced on Saturday that repair works for the damaged Tangos-Tanza Navigational Gate will be completed by August 8.

During a site inspection in Navotas City, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. ordered the immediate restoration of the flood gate and construction of retaining walls to prevent high tide from entering inland communities.

Bonoan explained that repairs were previously conducted in 2024 but recent damage occurred due to bad weather conditions, delaying the completion date to July 20.

The President also instructed the expedited construction of additional protection works for retaining walls near Manila Bay to further safeguard against high tide entry.

Despite challenging weather conditions, repair efforts will continue with available funds until 2026, focusing on closing gaps in the existing walls penetrated by water from Manila Bay.
