Marcos launches 150 rice processing systems, aims for more

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. renewed his administration's push for agricultural modernization on Tuesday by announcing that 150 rice processing systems have been built nationwide.

Marcos, speaking at a launch event in Balingasag, Misamis Oriental, said the government aims to establish rice processing facilities in every major rice-producing province to improve productivity and farmer income.

Among the launched projects is Rice Processing System II, which can raise milling recovery rates from 55 percent to 65 percent, reducing post-harvest losses by 32,000 metric tons annually and generating PHP541 million in additional income for farmers.

The President also mentioned that his administration plans to build an additional 70 rice processing systems this year, with a further 50 set for groundbreaking within the year.

Additionally, a SUNRISE Integrated Coconut Processing Facility was launched as part of a public-private initiative aimed at transforming the coconut industry in Northern Mindanao.
