Marcos Jr appoints Barua-Yap as new CSC chair

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. appointed Atty. Marilyn Barua-Yap as the new chairperson of the Civil Service Commission (CSC), effective immediately.

Barua-Yap's term will run until February 2, 2029, and she received her appointment letter signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin on October 16.

Karlo Nograles resigned from his role at the CSC earlier this month to run for mayor of Davao City in the upcoming midterm elections.

With extensive experience as an undersecretary in the Department of Agrarian Reform's Special Concerns Office and External Affairs, Barua-Yap is well-positioned to lead the CSC during a crucial period.

Additionally, she was elected secretary general of the House of Representatives in both the 14th and 15th Congresses, becoming the first woman to hold this position.
