Marcos instructs DOH on Zero Balance Billing

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. instructed the Department of Health (DOH) on Monday to ensure all its hospitals are well-versed in implementing the Zero Balance Billing system for indigent patients.

During a visit to the Eastern Visayas Medical Center (EVMC) in Tacloban City, Marcos emphasized the importance of making the program accessible and easy for patients.

DOH Secretary Ted Herbosa clarified that only those admitted to basic rooms in DOH-managed hospitals are covered by the program, which has received over PHP80 billion in funding this year.

The President highlighted the success of the initiative during a recent State of the Nation Address, noting its financial support from various sources including PhilHealth and regular budget allocations.

Rica Ligo, a beneficiary of the program, thanked Marcos for her family's reduced medical expenses after her father was treated for stab wounds.
