Marcos: Legal proceedings for arrested Mayor Guo will proceed

President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. on Wednesday issued a statement regarding the arrest of dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo in Indonesia.

Marcos assured that legal proceedings will proceed without delay and thanked Indonesian authorities for their role in arresting Guo, who faces multiple legal issues including involvement with an illegal POGO hub.

The president emphasized that evading justice is futile and assured that all legal protections under Philippine law would be provided to Guo.

Guo's apprehension must serve as a warning to others attempting to evade the law, Marcos said, adding that arrangements for her return to the Philippines are being finalized.

Marcos also indicated that those involved in assisting Guo’s escape from the country will face consequences and hinted at forthcoming accountability measures.
