Marcos Jr establishes SEI Advisory Council to boost semiconductor industry

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. established an SEI Advisory Council via Administrative Order 31 signed on March 28 to boost the competitiveness and growth of the country's semiconductor and electronics industry.

The council will provide strategic guidance and oversee the implementation of the Philippine Semiconductor and Electronics Industry (PSEI) Roadmap, aiming to enhance domestic manufacturing capabilities and move towards higher value-added activities in the industry.

Members include key department secretaries, CHED chairperson, BCDA chairperson, TESDA director general, and a private sector representative appointed by the president to ensure alignment with national economic development goals.

Frederick Go emphasized that this initiative is part of the administration's strategy to drive innovation, facilitate investments, and generate thousands of meaningful jobs.

The Philippines holds a 5% market share in the global semiconductors and electronics packaging value chain, underscoring the industry's importance for national economic development.
