Marcos declares March 17 and Aug. 15 as special non-working days in Davao City

President Marcos has declared March 17 and Aug. 15, 2025, as special non-working days in Davao City to mark two major local celebrations.

Proclamation 825 signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin on March 11 declares March 17 a special non-working day for the Araw ng Pasasalamat sa 88th Araw ng Davao, allowing residents to fully participate in the festivities.

The annual events from March 1 to 16 commemorate Davao's official recognition as a city on March 16, 1936, and its formal inauguration on March 1, 1937.

Mayor Sebastian Duterte emphasized the theme '88 years strong, One Davao,' highlighting unity, resilience, and compassion among residents.

Separately, Proclamation 826 designates Aug. 15 for the 40th Kadayawan Festival and Indigenous Peoples Day, celebrating the region's rich culture and bountiful harvest.
