Imee Marcos criticizes AKAP in budget, links it to charter change

Senator Imee Marcos accused the House of Representatives of inserting the Ayuda para sa Kapos ang Kita Program (AKAP) into the 2024 budget, which she claims diverts funds from existing social programs like Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps).

She also raised concerns that AKAP could be linked to a controversial people's initiative for Charter change.

Meanwhile, House member Elizaldy Co defended AKAP as designed to help the 'near poor' segment of society and prevent them from falling into poverty.
