Marcos creates committee for 650th Islamic presence anniversary

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has established a steering committee to commemorate the 650th anniversary of Islamic presence in the Philippines.

The Situmiayat Wakhamsun Aldhikraa National Committee (SWANC) aims to promote local and national tourism, reignite nationalism among Filipinos, and recognize Muslim Filipinos' contributions to Philippine history and heritage.

Led by the National Historical Commission of the Philippines and co-chaired by key government officials from various departments including Education, Foreign Affairs, Local Government, Defense, Tourism, and Peace Reconciliation and Unity, SWANC will develop a comprehensive plan for the anniversary celebration.
