Marcos considers reassigning PNP chief Torre

President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. is considering Police General Nicolas Torre III for another government position following his sudden relief as the chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP).

Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla stated at a press conference that President Marcos values Torre's experience, leadership, and organizational strength, and believes he can be useful in other positions critical to national development.

Remulla emphasized that Torre was not removed for any legal or administrative infraction but rather as part of the president's decision-making process to advance his agenda.

Torre's reassignment comes after the National Police Commission overturned several personnel assignments made by him, leading to Lt. Gen. Jose Nartatez Jr.'s appointment as officer-in-charge of the PNP.

The President remains committed to ensuring a unified direction and collaboration across all areas in his Cabinet, particularly those responsible for security, peace, and order.
