Marcos concerned over arrest of 5 Chinese spies in Palawan

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. expressed deep concern over the arrest of five Chinese nationals suspected of spying on Philippine Navy and Coast Guard assets in Palawan.

Marcos stated that investigative services are still gathering information about the arrested individuals to determine their exact operations within the country, noting some have been here for years and even married Filipinas.

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) announced the arrests following pursuit operations conducted from January 24 to 25 in various locations including Ninoy Aquino International Airport, Binondo, Intramuros, and Dumaguete City.

Photos recovered include images captured by drones of Naval Detachment Oyster Bay in Palawan, Philippine Navy vessels like BRP Ramon Alcaraz, maps of Subic Bay International Airport, and Philippine Coast Guard vessels docked in PCG Maritime Safety Service Unit NCR-Cluster.

The President said he is awaiting further details on the suspects' activities, adding that they may provide information leading to more arrests.
