Marcos Jr., Cañete debate Cabagan bridge collapse

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. attributes the collapse of a 60-meter span of the Cabagan-Sta Maria Bridge in Isabela to design flaws due to budget cuts from P1.8 billion to under P1 billion and cites two overloaded trucks each over 100 tons as contributing factors.

Alberto C. Cañete, structural engineer who designed the bridge, disputes Marcos Jr.'s claims arguing that the collapse was caused by an overloaded truck exceeding 54-ton capacity and suggests improper construction processes were used to cut costs in DPWH Region 2.
