Marcos attends PH Navy anniversary, commissions BRP Miguel Malvar, BRP Albert Majini

On Tuesday, President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. attended the Philippine Navy's 127th anniversary celebration in Subic, Zambales.

During the event, the navy christened and commissioned two new naval assets: BRP Miguel Malvar (FFG06) and BRP Albert Majini (PG909).

BRP Miguel Malvar is a guided-missile frigate equipped with advanced anti-ship, anti-submarine, anti-aircraft, and electronic warfare systems.

BRP Albert Majini, the first locally assembled missile-capable patrol vessel in the Philippines, honors Ensign Albert Majini for his valor during anti-piracy operations.

Rear Admiral Roy Vincent Trinidad of the Philippine Navy highlighted that BRP Miguel Malvar enhances maritime security with its modern capabilities and extended operational reach, emphasizing its role in protecting national waters.

BRP Miguel Malvar's sister ship, BRP Diego Silang (FFG-07), is expected to join the fleet by June or July, further bolstering the navy’s capacity for multi-combat operations.

The commissioning of these assets underscores the Philippine Navy's ongoing modernization efforts to address maritime challenges and promote regional stability.
