Marcos approves PHP 6.793-trillion FY 2026 NEP

President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. approved a PHP 6.793-trillion National Expenditure Program (NEP) for Fiscal Year 2026 during a Cabinet meeting on Tuesday.

Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro highlighted that the budget aims to enhance social services and education, aligning with Marcos's vision of an inclusive Philippines.

The NEP reflects a 7.4 percent increase from the PHP 6.3-trillion budget for Fiscal Year 2025 and is equivalent to about 22 percent of the country's GDP.

DBM Secretary Amenah Pangandaman noted that President Marcos Jr. actively participated in crafting the budget, ensuring alignment with the Philippine Development Plan (PDP) 2023-2028.

The proposed PHP 6.793-trillion budget prioritizes economic growth and key programs such as education, infrastructure, digitalization, health, and social services. The budget will be submitted to Congress within 30 days after the regular session opens on July 28.
