Marcos appoints Dante Ang as new CFO chair

President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. appointed Dante Francis Ang II as the new chairperson of the Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO).

The appointment was confirmed by Acting Communication Secretary Cesar Chavez and took effect after President Marcos signed it on October 16, 2024.

Ang will replace outgoing CFO chairperson Romulo V. Arugay, bringing extensive experience from his roles as chairman and CEO of The Manila Times and board member of Clark International Airport Corp.

The CFO provides pre-departure services to Filipino emigrants bound for various countries including the United States, Canada, Japan, Australia, Italy, New Zealand, South Korea, the UK, Spain, and Germany.

Established in 1980 under Batas Pambansa 79, the CFO aims to promote and uphold the interests of overseas Filipinos through programs such as pre-departure orientation seminars and technology transfer initiatives for underserved communities in the Philippines.
