Marcos Jr accepts Santiago's NBI resignation

President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. has accepted the irrevocable resignation of National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Director Jaime Santiago.

Santiago submitted his resignation on August 15 through Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, citing relentless efforts by detractors and individuals with sinister interests to damage his reputation.

Palace Press Officer Claire Castro assured that ongoing investigations would continue uninterrupted despite Santiago's departure.

Department of Justice (DOJ) endorsed Undersecretary Andres as acting NBI chief following Santiago's resignation.

Santiago will remain in office until a replacement is named, and he confirmed during an interview with ABS-CBN News that he will continue to perform his duties until the President officially accepts his resignation.
