Marcial shifts focus to pro boxing after Paris Olympics

Eumir Marcial is shifting his focus to his professional boxing career after participating in his second consecutive Summer Games at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Marcial, who lost in the Round of 16 to Uzbekistan's Turabek Khabibullaev and was a favorite for a medal, remains committed to winning an Olympic gold but prioritizes his pro career.

The 28-year-old boxer had previously put his professional boxing on hold to compete as an amateur and won a bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics three years ago.

Despite falling short in Paris due to a rib injury, Marcial announced he will return to the ring in December without specifying his next opponent or location.

Marcial, who now boasts an undefeated record of 5-0 with five knockouts as a professional fighter, continues to represent the Philippines and aims to bring honor to the country through his boxing career.
