Manila Water hikes tariffs, increasing bills by up to P0.90

Customers of Manila Water Company Inc., serving parts of Metro Manila and Rizal province, will see higher water bills starting April due to a tariff adjustment approved by government regulators.

Manila Water consumers with 10 cubic meters (cu.m) or less consumption will experience a P0.21 increase in their bills, while those using up to 20 cu.m will see an increase of P0.45 and those consuming 30 cu.m will face an additional P0.90.

The peso weakened against the US dollar in the fourth quarter of 2024, leading to a 4.24% increase in the USD exchange rate, impacting Manila Water's foreign currency-denominated loans used for water and sewerage projects.

Meanwhile, Maynilad has deferred its scheduled upward tariff adjustment of P0.09 per cubic meter until the third quarter, opting to maintain rate stability for consumers during this period.
